ABC7 New York news anchor Liz Cho has turned to the courts for protection during her divorce proceedings with former CBS host Josh Elliott, though the request does not involve concerns about physical safety.
The television journalist filed a motion on July 17, 2026, seeking to prevent Elliott's legal team from proceeding with a scheduled deposition set for July 23, 2026. Court documents reviewed by Page Six reveal that Cho's primary complaint centered on the scheduling process itself.
In her filing, Cho contended that the deposition date was set unilaterally, without any attempt to coordinate with her schedule or that of her legal representation. The court documents indicate that Elliott's attorneys failed to inquire about availability before issuing the deposition notice.
"The deposition was noticed without any inquiry as to the availability of [Cho] and her counsel," the filing reportedly states.
According to the protective order request, Cho informed Elliott's attorneys that her legal team had existing commitments that conflicted with the proposed date. She offered alternative dates for the deposition, but claims Elliott's side never provided a response to her proposed scheduling options.
Whether the July 23 deposition proceeded as originally scheduled or was ultimately rescheduled remains unclear from available court records.
The ABC7 anchor also raised objections to a discovery demand from Elliott's legal team. The request sought documentation of her correspondence with individuals with whom she maintained romantic or sexual relationships during a ten-year period spanning from July 2015 through June 2025.
The Daily Mail reports that despite initially objecting to this request, Cho ultimately provided the requested materials during a virtual court hearing held on July 24, 2026.
Elliott initiated divorce proceedings in June 2025, and the separation has since evolved into an increasingly acrimonious legal confrontation between the two former broadcast journalists.
