Amanda Seyfried offered a candid, if somewhat cryptic, assessment of her current chapter while walking the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday, October 17. The 40-year-old actress, attending the Los Angeles event solo, described her life as "interesting" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, acknowledging that giving interviews has become difficult of late.
"But, for a good reason. I don't know, I think everything that's happening is meant to happen [and] everything, everyone that's in your life is meant to be in your life. That's just, kind of, and I'm here tonight," Seyfried told The Hollywood Reporter at the gala. She added, "I'm meant to be here, and I get to go home tomorrow and I'm meant to be home and so on and so forth."
When asked whether her "interesting" life has made party chatter particularly challenging, Seyfried replied, "Only of late." The actress did not elaborate further, and the remarks appeared to puzzle even Seyfried herself after she left the event. Commenting on Instagram footage of the interview, she wrote, "What AM I even saying."
Seyfried's appearance at the gala came nearly one month after she and Thomas Sadoski, 50, announced their separation following nine years of marriage. In a joint statement to People, the former couple said, "We have been separated for a while, and it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit," adding, "We've got each other forever — and it's good."
The pair first met in 2015 while portraying a couple in the off-Broadway production The Way We Get By. After respective breakups from Justin Long and Kimberly Hope, the co-stars reconnected on the set of the 2017 film The Last Word.
For the gala, Seyfried chose a black strapless Prada gown paired with Tiffany diamonds, attending without a date. She documented the look on her Instagram Stories, writing, "I went to L.A. with @tiffanyandco for a few hours, yes I did." Seyfried primarily resides on an upstate New York farm with her two children.
Earlier that same evening, Seyfried also spoke with Variety about her cameo in Elizabeth Holmes' newly released documentary, You Can See Everything. Asked whether she hoped to meet the disgraced Theranos founder, Seyfried — who portrayed Holmes in Hulu's The Dropout — responded, "Elizabeth Holmes is getting out this year. I don't [know]. Life is long. I think everybody's going through stuff, so I don't know. I don't know, I don't know; I love challenges."
Seyfried appeared to dismiss the prospect of meeting Holmes following her prison sentence for fraud. She also ruled out a return for The Dropout season 2, stating, "I don't think so. But, life is long."
