A first look at the upcoming Anna Nicole Smith biopic has arrived, and the scene is a heavy one. In footage obtained by TMZ.com, Abbie Cornish portrays the late model in a hospital bed, weeping as she speaks with her doctor and describes a feeling that she cannot stop ruining things.
Kal Penn appears opposite Cornish as Dr. Sandeep Kapoor. During the emotional exchange, the character declares that giving birth to her son, Daniel, was the finest thing she has ever accomplished, and expresses a wish to contribute something positive to the world.
The film, titled "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor," is scheduled to reach theaters on October 16. TMZ.com published the clip on September 30, 2026.
Daniel died in 2006, shortly after the birth of Smith's daughter, Dannielynn. The tragedy has remained a defining chapter of the family's history.
Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn's father, has objected to the project, telling TMZ.com that Dr. Kapoor has spent the past two decades profiting from her death.
The movie centers on Kapoor's own experience. He was charged with felonies for prescribing medication to Smith before she died, but was ultimately acquitted and cleared of any wrongdoing.
