An Atlantic City man with a lengthy burglary history will spend another three years behind bars after admitting he served as a lookout during a vehicle break-in at a casino parking garage.
Kevin Thomas, 31, was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the March 31 incident at Ocean Casino Resort, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutors said Thomas kept watch while Adam Ross, 35, searched a vehicle on the parking garage's fourth floor and made off with more than $500 worth of items.
The timing of the offense proved particularly troubling: Thomas had been released from prison just five days earlier, on March 25, after completing roughly 13 months of a five-year term. That sentence stemmed from a series of burglaries and thefts across Atlantic County, including cases in Egg Harbor Township and several in Hamilton Township, court records show. The original offenses dated to 2022 and involved pleas in 14 courts, according to state Department of Corrections records.
Surveillance footage captured Thomas standing watch during the garage burglary, authorities said. He was arrested in the new case on May 14 and returned to prison a week later for violating his probation.
Thomas entered a guilty plea in the new case in September. Ross's case remains pending.
For our community, the case highlights the challenges of reentry and the importance of vigilance in public spaces — especially as visitors and residents frequent casino parking facilities. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office continues to pursue accountability for those who commit crimes in our shared spaces.
