ATLANTIC CITY — Atlantic City residents will soon have access to free financial education courses designed to help them manage money, improve their credit and plan for their financial futures.
The city announced Thursday the launch of Great Day University, a new initiative offering three programs geared toward residents at different stages of their financial lives.
Registration is now open, with classes scheduled to begin near the end of August.
“This is an opportunity to give our residents the tools to succeed by helping them take control of their finances,” Mayor Marty Small Sr. said. “We gear the curriculum to meet our residents where they are in life and help them move forward.”

The initiative includes two eight-week financial planning courses along with a more intensive 20-week program focused specifically on credit.
Programs Target Different Age Groups
The Financial Planning Foundations program is designed for Atlantic City residents ages 18 to 35, while Advanced Financial Planning is geared toward residents 35 and older.
Both are eight-week hybrid programs combining financial education with practical strategies and interactive discussions.
Topics will include:
Budgeting
Increasing income
Credit
Investing
Retirement
Health care
Estate planning
The city is also offering a 20-week Credit Empowerment Program for eligible Atlantic City residents.
That program will focus specifically on helping participants understand credit and learn strategies for repairing and building their credit profiles.
All three programs are being offered at no cost to eligible residents.
Focus on Long-Term Financial Health
The city said the courses will feature expert instruction while emphasizing strategies residents can apply to their own finances.
The separate age-based financial planning programs are intended to address the different financial decisions people typically encounter at various stages of adulthood.
For younger residents, those issues could include establishing credit, developing a budget and beginning to invest. Older participants will receive financial planning instruction that also encompasses subjects such as retirement, health care and estate planning.
Small characterized Great Day University as another investment in Atlantic City residents.
“This is another example of the Small Administration investing in our community and making a difference in the lives of the people who call the Great City of Atlantic City home,” Small said.
The programs are scheduled to begin later this month.
Registration and additional information are available through the City of Atlantic City website.
