Atlantic City Man Pleads Guilty After Children Reported Attack on Their Mother

MAYS LANDING — An Atlantic City man has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in a case that began when two young children came outside a home and told police their mother had been attacked, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Yusef Gordy, 37, pleaded guilty Thursday, Oct. 1, to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child before Superior Court Judge Daniel Kurkowski.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a three-year New Jersey State Prison sentence.

The case stems from a Dec. 18, 2025 domestic violence incident in Atlantic City.

Atlantic City police responded to a residence after receiving a report of domestic violence, according to prosecutors.

When officers arrived, two children, ages 5 and 9, met police outside the residence and reported that Gordy had attacked their mother.

Police then spoke with the children's mother.

Prosecutors said officers observed visible injuries to her face and that she told police Gordy had attacked and threatened her.

Authorities said both children were present when the attack occurred.

Gordy ultimately pleaded guilty to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Assistant Prosecutor Alexandria Peters represents the state in the case.
