Bali Tragedy: Mother Witnessed Daughter's Final Moments on CCTV

A devastating triple tragedy has emerged from southern Bali, where authorities report that an Australian father killed his two young children and then himself, while the children's mother witnessed part of the horror remotely through a home security camera.

The deceased have been identified as 4-year-old Laura, 6-year-old Archie, and their 56-year-old father, Damien John Shaw. All three were discovered dead inside the family's home in southern Bali, according to Australian news outlets.

The children's mother was reportedly traveling out of town when the events unfolded. She became alarmed during a phone conversation with Shaw after hearing her daughter crying in the background, and the call was abruptly disconnected.

Concerned, she accessed the residence's closed-circuit television feed, where she reportedly watched helplessly as Shaw pursued Laura through the house. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the young girl could be heard shouting "I love you, Daddy" while her father chased her.

The mother then contacted a worker and asked that person to check on the family, according to Australian outlets.

Bali police spokesman Senior Commander Ariasandy offered a theory about the sequence of events, telling the Herald, "It looks like he did it first to the son, and because [Laura] saw that, she was trying to escape." Police speculate that Archie may have already been dead by the time Laura was being chased.

According to Perth Now, a friend of Shaw said he had been "struggling mentally" during their last conversation. The friend also said Shaw had expressed a desire to end his own life after recently losing $140,000 in a venture.
