Beyoncé Honors Dolly Parton as 'North Star' Following Singer's Death

Beyoncé has shared a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton, celebrating the country music icon who died Tuesday at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer.

The Grammy-winning artist posted an emotional message to her website Tuesday, describing Parton as a guiding light who demonstrated how to live authentically. According to TMZ.com, Beyoncé wrote that the late singer was bold and brilliant, expressing gratitude for her profound influence through music, philanthropy, humor, and business acumen.

"Dolly, you were the barometer. The north star," Beyoncé wrote, according to TMZ.com. "You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself."

The two artists collaborated on Beyoncé's 2024 album "Cowboy Carter," where Parton made a memorable appearance introducing Beyoncé's reimagined version of "Jolene." That partnership created a meaningful connection between the two performers that Beyoncé now treasures.

"Thank you for your profound impact on the world. You are an angel who has made this world a happier place because of your joyful art. You are truly one of one. Rest peacefully," Beyoncé wrote, according to TMZ.com.

Representatives for Parton confirmed that she died Tuesday at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, surrounded by loved ones. The 80-year-old entertainer had been battling cancer for a brief period before her death.

Beyoncé joins numerous celebrities paying tribute to the legendary performer. Reba McEntire, Jane Fonda, Kacey Musgraves, and Sabrina Carpenter have all shared memories celebrating Parton's enormous heart and lasting legacy in entertainment and philanthropy.

Parton's influence extended far beyond country music, touching multiple generations through her distinctive voice, songwriting prowess, and generous spirit. Her business ventures and charitable work, particularly in literacy and education, cemented her status as a cultural icon whose impact transcended the entertainment industry.
