Our community's storied boxing legacy takes center stage this fall as the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame prepares to welcome some of the sport's most iconic figures for its 2026 celebration weekend.
The three-day event runs Friday, September 25th through Sunday, September 27th, bringing together champions, trainers, and industry pioneers who helped cement Atlantic City's reputation as the East Coast's premier boxing destination during the casino era.
Among the confirmed guests are legendary fighters Roberto Duran, Michael Spinks, Shannon Briggs, Vinny Paz, Kelly Pavlik, James Toney, Butterbean, and Michael Nunn. Their presence underscores the enduring connection between world-class boxing and our city's entertainment history.
For younger residents unfamiliar with Atlantic City's boxing heyday, the casino boom transformed our boardwalk into a magnet for championship bouts. The biggest names in the sport stepped into South Jersey rings, including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Evander Holyfield, Oscar De La Hoya, George Foreman, Bernard Hopkins, Arturo Gatti, Roy Jones Jr., Roberto Duran, and Lennox Lewis.
This year's honorees span multiple categories, recognizing contributions both inside and outside the ring. The fighter inductees include Miguel Cotto, Ray Mancini, Zab Judah, Orlando Canizales, Charles Williams, Harold Knight, Mike Tinley, and Jacqui Frazier-Lyde.
Five special contributors will also be honored: promoter Lou Dibella, judge Melvina Lathan, referee Earl Brown, manager Craig Johnson, and John Scully, recognized for his work as a humanitarian, trainer, and fighter.
The Hall of Fame will posthumously induct fighters James Shuler and Georgie Navarro, trainer Wesley Mouzon, and media figure Chuck Betson. Three pioneers round out the class: international media personality Juan Carlos Tapia, referee John Fitzpatrick, and promoter Al Soifer.
Fans can purchase tickets for multiple events throughout the weekend, including the "Opening Bell" VIP Cocktail Reception, the red-carpet formal induction ceremony, and Sunday's "Closing Bell" Knockout Cigar and Wine Tasting with Legends.
