Bryon Noem, the estranged husband of Kristi Noem, has filed a response in their divorce case that agrees the marriage is over but disputes who should be eligible for spousal support, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
In the newly filed response, Bryon Noem states that he, rather than Kristi Noem, should be the party who could potentially receive monthly payments. Kristi Noem's original petition, filed on September 28, sought to preserve her ability to request spousal support. The couple has three children, all of whom are adults, so child support is not at issue in the proceedings.
Both parties agree the marriage ended due to irreconcilable differences, but they remain at odds over the financial terms, TMZ reported.
The split followed a Daily Mail report that alleged Bryon Noem had a habit of wearing prosthetic breasts while communicating with people online, according to TMZ's earlier reporting. A representative for Kristi Noem said she was "devastated" and "blindsided" by the claims, TMZ reported.
After Kristi Noem filed for divorce, Bryon Noem's attorney, Tim Bottum, told TMZ that his client was "saddened that the marriage is ending and hopes for a private and amicable resolution."
The competing support claims indicate the parties have not reached the amicable resolution Bryon Noem's attorney described, with money emerging as the central point of contention in the case.
