Costa Rica Influencer Gaby Sanarrucia Chavarría Killed in Home Invasion

A social media influencer with more than 100,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok was killed during a home invasion in Costa Rica over the holiday weekend, according to authorities cited by Argentina-based news outlet La Nación.

Gaby Sanarrucia Chavarría, 28, was shot dead on Saturday, July 4, while sleeping next to her boyfriend inside their home in La Cruz, Costa Rica. Her boyfriend, Jose Isaac Agüero, was also killed in the attack.

Multiple intruders allegedly broke into the couple's residence before opening fire on both victims. According to People, local authorities reported that after the killing, suspects fled the home and allegedly burned a white vehicle. The investigation remains active as police work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the double homicide.

Possible Motive Under Investigation

The shootings were believed to be motivated by retribution, though local police stated they are continuing to investigate to determine an official motive. Authorities have not released information about potential suspects or arrests at this time.

A Life Shared Online

Chavarría had built a substantial following on social media platforms, where she shared glimpses of her life with fans. Her TikTok bio read, "My family, my greatest blessing 😍🇨🇷." The influencer frequently posted content featuring her daughter and boyfriend.

Her final TikTok post, shared on Friday, July 3, featured a throwback video of her cuddling with her daughter. "When did you grow up so much, my baby," Chavarría captioned the video. The post has since been flooded with messages of condolence from followers mourning the loss.

On June 28, Chavarría shared a series of images to Instagram that included photographs of her daughter and Agüero. One image showed the couple in an intimate pose. "My love 🐼 🤰," she wrote in the caption. "Together by the hand of God always in ups and downs! ❤️ 🙏🏽✨."

The tragic deaths have left Chavarría's young daughter without both her mother and her mother's partner. Followers have expressed grief and concern for the child in comments across the influencer's social media accounts.

The investigation into the double homicide continues as Costa Rican authorities work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
