A contentious custody battle between professional dancer Gleb Savchenko and his former wife Elena Samodanova has taken a new turn after Samodanova learned details about where their teenage daughter has been residing.
The dispute centers on their daughter Olivia, who is nearly 16 years old, and whether she should remain in Los Angeles with her father or relocate to Hong Kong with her mother and younger sister Zlata.
Samodanova expressed concerns about her daughter's current living arrangements after court proceedings revealed specific details about the residence. "Gleb disclosed Olivia's location only after the Court ordered him to provide her address and contact information," Samodanova told Us Weekly.
The address provided indicated that Olivia has been living in a property owned by Savchenko's girlfriend, Kaitlin Trujillo, who works in the adult entertainment industry on OnlyFans. "The address he provided confirmed that our teenage daughter is living in a property owned by his girlfriend, rather than in a permanent home maintained by him," Samodanova told the outlet.
Samodanova clarified that her objections do not stem from Trujillo's profession itself. "My concern is Gleb's judgment as a father and whether this is an appropriate and stable environment for our teenage daughter," she told Us Weekly.
Savchenko, known for his appearances on "Dancing with the Stars," defended the living situation and emphasized his daughter's own preferences. "Olivia is safe, supported and surrounded by people who love and care for her. Most importantly, she is nearly 16 years old and has expressed her own wishes regarding where she wants to live," he told Us Weekly.
The professional dancer criticized the public nature of the dispute and indicated he would not engage in similar tactics. "I am disappointed to see unrelated personal matters and third parties brought into a deeply private situation involving our daughter. I will not respond by attacking Olivia's mother or anyone else publicly," Savchenko told the outlet.
The legal proceedings have seen recent developments. Earlier this week, a judge issued a stay in the case, meaning Olivia will not be required to return to Hong Kong immediately while the matter remains under consideration.
Savchenko filed for sole custody of Olivia in July, while Samodanova is pursuing primary custody. The competing petitions highlight the fundamental disagreement between the parents about what constitutes the best living arrangement for their teenage daughter.
The case underscores the complex considerations courts face when determining custody arrangements for teenagers old enough to express their own preferences, particularly when parents reside in different countries and maintain vastly different household situations.
