Death at Harrah's Resort No Longer Criminal Investigation

ATLANTIC CITY - Authorities in Atlantic County have determined that the death of a woman discovered in a hotel room at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City will not be pursued as a criminal matter.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office issued a brief statement Wednesday, August 14, 2026 at 2:53 p.m. announcing that the criminal investigation has been closed. According to the office, the decision was made based on autopsy results from the New Jersey Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office.

Atlantic City police responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:47 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, reporting an unresponsive female inside a hotel room at the resort. When officers arrived, they discovered a 41-year-old woman who had died.

Authorities have not disclosed the woman's identity or the cause of death. The prosecutor's office did not provide additional details about what the autopsy revealed or elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The brief nature of the official statement leaves many questions unanswered for our community as we await further information from the medical examiner's office.
