The legal dispute over the Parton family estate took another procedural turn on Monday, when Bryan Seaver, the nephew of Dolly Parton, requested additional time to secure legal representation, according to TMZ.
Seaver filed a request on Monday asking the court to move his October 9 hearing back by ten days, sources told TMZ. The request comes as he has reportedly been unable to retain counsel in Tennessee.
According to information obtained by TMZ, every lawyer Seaver has contacted has connections to Pinnacle Bank, which is involved with the trust at the center of the estate battle. Those connections have created a conflict of interest, leaving Seaver without representation as the hearing approaches.
The underlying dispute concerns the Parton family estate. Seaver had been responsible for managing family assets before he was removed from that role, a termination that preceded an escalating legal conflict.
Seaver's proximity to the singer and her inner circle was evident in August, when he was selected as the family member to publicly announce Dolly's death. That role underscored his standing within the family before the estate fight erupted.
TMZ reported that it obtained Seaver's termination letter, which contained allegations regarding his management of the estate and his behavior during the dispute. The situation intensified further when a judge granted the estate a restraining order against Seaver days later.
Seaver is now seeking a brief postponement before returning to court, stating that the additional time is needed simply to find an attorney who can represent him.
