Earth, Wind & Fire percussionist Ralph Johnson delivered positive news regarding drummer John Paris, who continues recovering from a serious medical emergency that placed him in an induced coma.
Cameras captured Johnson in Los Angeles on Sunday, where he confirmed that Paris remains in stable condition following the frightening health crisis. While the recovery process will require time, Johnson expressed confidence that his bandmate will achieve a full recovery.
The medical situation has proven complex. Paris briefly emerged from the coma at one point, during which he inquired about his wife and managed to share a joke with a friend. However, medical staff were forced to sedate him again when he experienced breathing difficulties and elevated blood pressure.
Johnson indicated that he and fellow band members are supporting Paris through his hospitalization. He suggested the situation might improve significantly by next month, noting the arrival of September.
The specific nature of the medical emergency that necessitated the induced coma has not been disclosed. Paris's ability to communicate briefly before requiring additional sedation suggests medical professionals are carefully managing his condition to prevent complications.
The update from Johnson marks the first public statement from a band member regarding Paris's condition since the medical crisis began. The optimistic assessment provides reassurance to fans concerned about the drummer's health and future with the iconic group.
