A former professional football player has found himself at the center of an unusual social media phenomenon after being mistaken for a man accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women.

DaeJohn Love has experienced a notable increase in social media engagement, new followers, and brand partnership inquiries following widespread confusion with Daejon Love, who currently faces criminal charges over allegations he posed as a 49ers player while scamming victims.

The mix-up stems from the similarity in their names, with only a single letter differentiating the two men. When news broke about the alleged impersonation scheme, social media users searching for information about the accused individual frequently landed on DaeJohn Love's profiles instead.

DaeJohn Love told TMZ that the initial wave of attention proved confusing, with numerous people contacting him to ask whether he was the subject of the criminal allegations. Once individuals realized they had contacted the wrong person, he said their responses shifted from accusatory to curious.
