Singer Gwen Stefani and her husband Blake Shelton are grieving the loss of their 18-year-old dog Betty, who passed away this weekend.

The No Doubt frontwoman, 56, shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, September 5, posting a heartfelt tribute to the Rottweiler mix who had been a fixture in their blended family for nearly two decades.

"It's with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet betty has gone to heaven 💔🕊️🐾 she made us all smile for 18 years," Stefani wrote in the post, according to Us Weekly.

The announcement included a video montage celebrating Betty's life, featuring cherished moments with Shelton, 50, Stefani, and her three sons Zuma, Apollo, and Kingston. The tribute was set to the couple's duet "Nobody But You," a fitting choice given that Betty had a memorable appearance in that song's music video.

"[Betty] made us all smile for 18 years... we're going to miss her forever. Thank u betty for all the love + joy u brought into our lives," Stefani added in the post, according to Us Weekly.

The announcement prompted an outpouring of support from fans and followers who had come to know Betty through the couple's social media posts over the years. Supporters shared their own experiences with pet loss and offered words of comfort in the comment section.

"Omg Im so sorry to hear about Betty...it's hard losing a pet. Wow 18 years..she lived her best years! My prayers are with y'all. Love y'all. ❤️Thanks for sharing this with us," one follower commented, according to Us Weekly.

Another fan wrote about their own recent loss, stating, "My heart breaks for you. I recently went through this with my girl of 13 years. Thinking of you and sending prayers," according to Us Weekly.

A third commenter noted Betty's presence in the couple's public life, writing, "We all feel like we know Betty from all the videos and pictures. What a great family, dog and friend that Betty was. Till you all meet again RIP Betty," according to Us Weekly.

Betty originally belonged to Shelton before he began his relationship with Stefani, his fellow coach on The Voice. During a 2020 interview with CMT, the country music star revealed how the dog's loyalties had shifted over time.

"She gets jealous," Shelton said of Betty, speaking to CMT. "She's Gwen's dog now, and so that's where the jealousy comes in."

Stefani offered a different perspective, telling CMT, "She loves both of her parents very much."

Betty was not the only animal in the household. The couple also shares a mixed-breed dog named Ginger and a rescue cat called Corn Shelton. In 2024, Stefani documented on Instagram how she and Shelton adopted the cat after it appeared on their property in poor condition.

"The day he showed up to our home, he was hardly alive + so sick," Stefani explained in a video at the time, according to Us Weekly. "But with a lot of love + nurturing, he became a healthy kitten."

She added, "We're so grateful that he's a part of our family," according to Us Weekly.

Stefani and Shelton married in July 2021 during an intimate ceremony at his Oklahoma ranch. The wedding united their blended family, which includes Stefani's three children from her previous marriage to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, which lasted from 2002 to 2016. Shelton was previously married to Kaynette Gern from 2003 to 2006 and to country music star Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015.
