Gypsy Rose Blanchard opened up about her relationship with Ken Urker and the wedding she hoped for during a May sit-down on the TMZ Podcast with Charlie Neff — a conversation that has taken on new meaning following his death. Urker was found dead on Thursday in his Louisiana apartment, and the circumstances surrounding his passing remain under investigation.
During the interview, Neff asked Blanchard whether she felt any pressure from Urker to get married. Blanchard indicated that Urker was not the source of any pressure, though she acknowledged feeling external expectations from the public. She also floated the possibility that the two might remain together without ever marrying, drawing a comparison to the long-term unmarried partnership of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
If a wedding were to happen, Blanchard made clear it would not be a spur-of-the-moment ceremony in Las Vegas officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator. She described wanting a classic fairytale celebration instead. Blanchard also referenced her first marriage, which took place beside a prison bathroom, and stated she had no intention of repeating that kind of ceremony.
The two never married. Authorities who responded to Urker's Louisiana apartment reported finding items associated with drug use, including paraphernalia and a brown powder substance. An autopsy has been performed, but officials have not yet released the findings, which remain pending.
On Friday, Blanchard published an emotional tribute in which she described Urker as her "greatest love story." Despite that sentiment, the pair had been spending time apart in the period before his death. Sources told TMZ that the separation stemmed from Urker's drinking, and those same sources emphasized that the two had not broken up and were not on a break.
