Help Identify Man Found in Brigantine 44 Years Ago

More than four decades after skeletal remains were discovered in a Brigantine marsh, investigators are turning to the public with newly released composite sketches, hoping someone in our community might recognize the man and help solve this enduring mystery.

The discovery was made on May 14, 1982, when the remains were found in a marshy meadow adjacent to Golden Hammock Thorofare in Brigantine City. Despite decades of investigation, the man has never been identified.

Based on forensic analysis, authorities believe the individual died between 1981 and 1982. The man is thought to have been white, with an estimated age range of 35 to 45 years old at the time of death. His physical characteristics suggest he stood approximately 5 feet 6 inches in height, with a weight of roughly 165 pounds.

The composite sketches released by authorities depict what investigators believe the man looked like when his remains were found. These images represent the best effort to give a face to someone who has remained nameless for 44 years.

Community members who recognize the individual or possess any information that might assist in establishing his identity are encouraged to come forward.
