Illinois Mother's Facebook Posts Surface in Toddler Death Case

Newly surfaced Facebook posts from Corie Walsh, the Illinois woman accused of murdering her 2-year-old son and allegedly fixated on the Lindsay Clancy trial, are drawing attention as her case moves forward. The posts, published before the alleged killing, include Christmas Eve photographs of her son Barrett — the child she is accused of murdering — appearing frightened alongside his siblings in matching pajamas.

In one caption, Walsh wrote, "PSA: There was no harming of [Barrett] while posing for photos despite the look of sheer terror on his face." The post was among a trove of previously unseen photos shared on Facebook, according to TMZ.com.

Another set of photos marked Barrett's birthday. Referring to him by the nickname Bear, Walsh wrote, "He's grown leaps and bounds since becoming a big brother but still rests his head on my shoulder, when I'm carrying him up for bed, reminding me of how little he is."

The affectionate tone of the posts aligns with the description provided by a former high school friend, who told TMZ.com that Walsh was "beautiful, kind, intelligent, talented and giving" as a teenager.

Prosecutors allege that Walsh planned to kill her husband when he returned home after she allegedly murdered her son. According to prosecutors, Barrett's body was found by two other children living in the home, who then ran to alert a neighbor.

Walsh's attorney, Andrea Lyon, maintains that her client was experiencing a severe mental health crisis at the time of Barrett's death. The case has drawn comparisons to the Lindsay Clancy trial, which prosecutors say Walsh was allegedly obsessed with.
