Jada Pinkett Smith is seeking court permission to have Bilaal Salaam, a former friend of Will Smith, undergo a mental examination as part of an ongoing lawsuit, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Salaam is suing the actress for $3 million, alleging that she threatened him and caused him severe emotional distress. In the legal filing, Smith argues that because Salaam has placed his mental and emotional state at the forefront of his claims, she should be allowed to have a doctor evaluate the existence and severity of those alleged conditions. She is requesting that the examination last between five and six hours.
According to the lawsuit, Salaam claims that Smith's conduct forced him to relocate overseas out of fear, led to the end of a long-term romantic relationship, and contributed to the development of high blood pressure.
As TMZ has previously reported, Salaam alleges that Smith and other friends targeted him after he declined to assist Will Smith in addressing the aftermath of the Chris Rock incident. He also claims they became upset upon learning that he intended to write a memoir that would mention Will Smith.
The case remains pending in court.
