Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the actor known for his role on "Home Improvement," was detained in Malibu early Monday on suspicion of obstruction and public intoxication, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. The agency alleges that during the encounter, Thomas kicked a sheriff's deputy in the stomach.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle that deputies pulled over at approximately 12:30 AM on Monday in Malibu. Authorities stated the car was blocking traffic because it was stopped at an intersection.
Deputies instructed Thomas to remain in the vehicle, but he did not comply, according to the department. When a deputy attempted to detain him, Thomas allegedly kicked the deputy in the stomach, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.
Thomas was taken to jail on charges of obstruction and public intoxication, as TMZ first reported. He was released from custody on Tuesday.
TMZ reported that it reached out to Thomas for comment and had not received a response.
