Judge Upholds Stalking Injunction Against Dakota Mortensen's Roommate

A Utah judge ruled Friday, August 14, 2026, to maintain a stalking injunction protecting Taylor Frankie Paul from Cru Eaton, the roommate of Paul's ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. The decision follows Eaton's posting of private video footage showing heated disputes between the former couple.

Eaton expressed disappointment with the court's decision while speaking with Us Weekly following the ruling. "It's a bummer that the injunction didn't get lifted because I believe I'm protected by the First Amendment," Eaton told Us Weekly on Friday.

The 32-year-old Paul initially pursued legal protection after Eaton published intimate recordings of volatile confrontations between her and Mortensen, 33, on July 9, 2026. During Friday's hearing, the presiding judge determined that Eaton's actions constituted a personal attack against Paul and that he had acted with awareness of her vulnerable state. The court ordered removal of the videos.

Us Weekly confirmed that the videos featuring Paul have been deleted from Eaton's TikTok account, though a text message exchange between Paul and Mortensen remains visible on the platform.

While Eaton acknowledged he could pursue additional legal remedies to contest the injunction, he indicated he has no current plans to do so. "I could file an expedited motion and request a different judge," he told Us Weekly, adding, "But honestly, I don't care to post any more videos of Taylor, even though I do have more."

Despite accepting the court's restrictions on posting videos, Eaton made clear he intends to continue voicing his perspective when he deems it appropriate. He reiterated his commitment to speaking what he considers the truth if circumstances warrant it, according to Us Weekly.

The legal proceedings unfold against a backdrop of ongoing conflict between Paul and Mortensen. Both individuals faced investigation by authorities in Draper City, Utah, earlier in 2026 after each accused the other of domestic violence. Utah prosecutors chose not to file criminal charges against either party in April 2026.

Eaton defended his involvement in the matter, stating he acted to support Mortensen. "I helped him as I would want anybody to help me if I were in that same position," Eaton told Us Weekly. He added that all parties should move forward with their lives.

The situation has created divisions among those connected to the parties involved. Julie Theis, Eaton's former girlfriend, told Us Weekly in July 2026 that she now supports Paul after having a direct conversation with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member.

Theis, 32, a psychology-focused YouTube creator, met Eaton while filming the reality dating series Secrets & Soulmates in 2025. She subsequently relocated to Utah to pursue their relationship, spending two months living with Eaton and Mortensen. During that period, she became acquainted with the MomTok social circle while Paul was filming The Bachelorette.

"What I had heard from them, it was all negative," Theis told Us Weekly in July, referring to the characterization of Paul she received from Eaton and Mortensen. She described apologizing to Paul immediately upon speaking with her. "I believe her. I saw myself in her. I saw every woman who's been through a toxic, abusive relationship in her," Theis told Us Weekly.

Theis offered her assessment of the relationship between Paul and Mortensen, characterizing both as carrying unresolved personal issues into their partnership. She told Us Weekly that while Paul has acknowledged making mistakes in how she responded to situations, Theis believes Paul's reactions stemmed from experiencing coercive control and psychological pressure.

The relationship between Theis and Eaton ended acrimoniously. In a July 9, 2026 video, Theis leveled multiple accusations against Eaton, characterizing him as a toxic partner and claiming he bore responsibility for the death of her dog, Camilla.

A source close to Eaton disputed Theis's characterizations, telling Us Weekly that she applied labels including woman hater, woman abuser, and dog killer that were completely false. The source attributed the relationship's dissolution to incompatible values and differing expectations regarding the pace of commitment.

Regarding Camilla's death, the source provided a different account to Us Weekly. According to this version, Theis arranged for a neighbor to let the dog outside without a leash when Eaton could not arrive in time. The dog escaped and was subsequently hit by a vehicle. The source stated that Eaton was elsewhere when the incident occurred and experienced significant grief over the animal's death.

Eaton denied Theis's claims when contacted by Us Weekly. Mortensen declined to provide comment to the publication. Representatives for Paul have not responded to requests for comment.
