Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians, was at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Saturday night to watch his hometown team defeat the Chicago White Sox 2-0 in Game 5 of the American League Division Series. The winner-take-all victory sent the Guardians to the American League Championship Series.
Kelce, wearing Guardians gear, was visibly energized throughout the game, according to TMZ.com, which reported that he was seen jumping for joy as the action unfolded. The three-time Super Bowl champion became a minority owner of the Guardians earlier this year, a move that made Saturday's result especially meaningful.
The tight end has spent years building his career in Kansas City, but his ties to Cleveland remain strong. He has previously discussed his desire to give back to the city that shaped him, and investing in his favorite childhood baseball team represented a significant step in that effort.
Taylor Swift, Kelce's new bride, was not in attendance at the game, despite recently releasing a song titled "Cleveland!" Her absence appeared to leave Kelce free to enjoy a night out with friends, according to TMZ.com.
The Chiefs are on their bye week, which gave Kelce the opportunity to trade his No. 87 jersey for casual attire and attend the playoff matchup.
Cleveland now moves on to the ALCS against the Tampa Bay Rays. Game 1 is scheduled for Monday. Should the Guardians continue their postseason run, their most famous football fan may well make another appearance in the stands.
