Kyle Massey is standing by his longtime friend and former co-star Bobb'e J. Thompson after Thompson was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. Massey, who appeared with Thompson on the Disney Channel series "That's So Raven," spoke with TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, September 21, 2026, where he was asked about the sentence.
Massey responded with an immediate message of support, telling TMZ, "Free Bobb'e J," and referring to Thompson as his brother. He said that he and others continue to support Thompson and that they will always have his back.
Reflecting on their time working together, Massey told TMZ that Thompson was consistently devoted to his acting and comedy work. Massey also said he did not observe any issues with Thompson before the federal firearms case that led to his imprisonment.
According to TMZ, Thompson's legal troubles stem from a 2025 arrest during a routine traffic stop, when officers reported discovering a stolen firearm in his vehicle. Thompson entered a guilty plea in April, and the sentence was handed down last week.
TMZ also reported that Thompson was previously convicted in 2022 of battery causing serious bodily injury, assault, and prohibited firearm possession. Despite that history, Massey's public show of loyalty highlights the enduring bonds formed among cast members of the popular Disney Channel program.
