WWE Superstar LA Knight has competed in professional wrestling for two decades, yet a WWE world championship has remained out of reach. Ahead of Saturday's match against Roman Reigns, Knight acknowledged to TMZ's "Inside the Ring" podcast that the bout could represent his final chance at the title.
Knight told the podcast that he has considered what another defeat would mean for his career. "I've probably kind of framed it that way a little bit because it just feels like ... is it my last one ever? I don't know," Knight said, speaking to TMZ. "It could be, who knows?"
The pressure, Knight explained, stems from years spent pursuing the one achievement that has continued to elude him. "So many people ask, like, how has LA Knight not been world champion yet?" Knight told TMZ. "It's almost like, put up or shut up, do or die. This is the time to do it. And if it doesn't happen here, it's just kind of like, where do I go from here?"
Even a victory over Roman Reigns might not conclude Knight's evening. Because the Money in the Bank briefcase will be contested at the same event, the winner could cash in the contract later that same night, potentially interrupting any new championship reign.
Knight stated that such a scenario cannot occupy his attention yet. "I gotta focus on getting the damn thing first before I worry about anybody cashing in on me," Knight told TMZ.
He also cautioned that anyone attempting to threaten a reign of his would be making what he described as "a bad idea," suggesting an intruder might absorb a strike from the championship belt itself.
"WWE Money in the Bank" takes place Saturday, October 10, in New Orleans. The event streams at 6 PM ET on the ESPN App. The complete interview with LA Knight is available now on TMZ's "Inside the Ring."
