Legendary Temptations Bringing Motown Magic to Ocean City

South Jersey is in for a musical treat as one of Motown's most celebrated acts takes the stage at the Ocean City Music Pier later this month. The Temptations will perform on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 7:00pm, bringing their legendary catalog of hits to the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and multiple GRAMMY Award winners have spent more than 60 years creating some of American music's most enduring songs. Their journey from Detroit's streets to international stardom produced an impressive 42 Top Ten Hits, with 14 climbing all the way to number one. Classics like "My Girl," "Just My Imagination," "Get Ready," and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" continue to resonate across generations.

At the heart of the group's longevity stands Otis Williams, the original and founding member who has guided The Temptations through every era. Williams has been the constant through lineup changes, musical evolution, and cultural shifts from the 1960s to today. His leadership has helped maintain the group's distinctive sound—characterized by flawless vocal harmonies and precision choreography—that made them icons.

The performance is part of The City of Ocean City's Boardwalk Summer Concert Series at the Ocean City Music Pier, co-produced by BRE Presents and Rose Productions. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the Music Pier Welcome Center, by calling (856) 429-6100, or through the venue's website.

The 2026 concert series features an impressive roster of talent beyond The Temptations. The lineup includes the Happy Together Tour 2026 on August 3, featuring The Association, The Troggs, Jason Scheff (Chicago lead singer 1985-2016), Gary Puckett, The Fortunes, Ron Dante (The Archies & The Turtles), The Vogues, and The Cowsills. The Outlaws perform August 10 with special guest Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel, followed by Todd Rundgren on August 11. Indigo Girls take the stage August 17, with 10,000 Maniacs closing out the series on August 24.

The Temptations' popularity shows no signs of slowing, with each new generation discovering their music and contributing to their status as one of the world's most iconic musical brands. Their August 18 appearance offers local residents and visitors alike a chance to experience live performances from a group that helped define the sound of American soul music.
