Former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has come to the defense of head coach Nick Sirianni, dismissing calls for his job as unreasonable. McCoy made his position clear during an interview with TMZ Sports at Los Angeles International Airport this week, as reported by TMZ.com on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
"Why would Nick Sirianni be on the hot seat? That's just soft, I mean two years ago he won a Super Bowl, at his worst, he's been in the playoffs every single year," McCoy told TMZ Sports.
The Eagles are coming off a difficult loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, in which they surrendered a 20-10 halftime lead and were shut out in the second half. The defeat leaves Philadelphia with a .500 record, though the team remains just one game behind the New York Giants, who are currently playing with backup quarterback Jameis Winston.
McCoy, a former Eagles standout, emphasized the elevated expectations that come with playing in Philadelphia. "The standard for Eagles is so high, there's a lot of teams that's 2-2, nobody talks about, but every year we're expected to win," he added to TMZ Sports.
Sirianni, who led the franchise to a Super Bowl victory two seasons ago, has faced mounting criticism from a segment of the fan base. Despite the current challenges, McCoy pointed to Sirianni's track record of resilience. The coach has encountered adversity before and has consistently guided the team to the postseason.
The road ahead does not get any easier for Philadelphia. The Eagles are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, who hold a 3-1 record, in London on Sunday. The matchup will serve as another test for Sirianni and his squad as they look to rebound from their recent setback.
