Mangione Legal Fund Remains Active After Guilty Plea

A legal defense fundraiser for Luigi Mangione remains operational on the crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo following his guilty plea Friday to federal charges connected to the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to statements from the platform.

GiveSendGo representatives explained to TMZ that the fundraising campaign was established to address legal expenses spanning three distinct cases, and the platform has determined that unresolved legal matters justify keeping the fundraiser active.

Mangione entered guilty pleas on Friday to two federal stalking charges related to Thompson's death. However, he continues to face a separate case in New York state court. Federal sentencing proceedings are scheduled for December 18, 2026.

The platform's policy framework requires that funds collected through legal defense campaigns involving violent or weapons-related charges must be transferred to a licensed attorney or law firm. According to the GiveSendGo spokesperson, the guilty plea does not alter the fundraiser's status while Mangione's remaining cases proceed through the legal system.

Platform representatives emphasized that maintaining the fundraiser should not be construed as support for Mangione or his actions. "Hosting a fundraiser has never been an endorsement of a person, their actions, or their public statements," the spokesperson told TMZ.

GiveSendGo maintains that it does not determine which individuals merit financial assistance, instead leaving such decisions to individual contributors.

The fundraising campaign has continued to attract donations even after the guilty plea was entered. Contributions increased by approximately $1,000 in the hours immediately following Mangione's court appearance, according to TMZ. An additional $3,000 has been raised since that initial surge.

The fundraiser will remain accessible as Mangione's legal team navigates the pending proceedings. GiveSendGo has characterized its function as providing access to lawful fundraising mechanisms rather than adopting positions on individual cases.
