Melissa Rycroft, known for her appearances on 'The Bachelor,' has broken her silence regarding her recent arrest for driving while intoxicated in Texas. In a social media post on Tuesday, Rycroft expressed remorse and announced she will seek professional treatment.
The arrest occurred over the weekend after police allege that Rycroft collided with an ambulance and fled the scene. She was subsequently taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with an invalid license due to a prior conviction or suspension without financial responsibility, and causing damage to a vehicle under $200.
In her Instagram post, Rycroft described the incident as a personal low point and admitted to struggling with mental health issues. She stated, "I've fought this for a long time on my own, and it's time to admit that I can't do it anymore," according to TMZ.com. She also said, "This is so hard to say and the shame is still very much there, but I'm ready to feel like myself again, for me and my family," TMZ.com reported.
Rycroft emphasized that her family deserves her to be at her best, and she is committed to achieving that. She concluded by requesting that the public extend "some grace" and honor her family's privacy as she focuses on her recovery.
This arrest comes just months after Rycroft was sentenced for a previous DWI offense from last year. The latest incident raises concerns about repeat offenses and the legal consequences she may face.
