Miranda Kerr Reveals Depression After Orlando Bloom Split

Miranda Kerr, 43, is speaking candidly about the emotional toll of her divorce from Orlando Bloom, 49. During an appearance on 'The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show' podcast on Thursday, September 24, the model and Kora Organics founder described the period following their separation as one of her most difficult challenges, revealing that she experienced depression.

Kerr and Bloom married in July 2010 and welcomed their son Flynn in January 2011. The couple announced their separation in October 2013. Reflecting on that time, Kerr told host Jessica Rowe, "Obviously my public divorce, separation with Orlando, that was something that was another challenging time," adding, "After we separated, I went through a little bit of like, depression." These remarks were made during the podcast interview, as reported by Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly.

The Victoria's Secret model expressed surprise at her own reaction, noting that it conflicted with her usual disposition. "And it was so odd for me because I'm a naturally joyful person," she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly. "And like my mother would call me Giggly Gertrude. Like that was my name, my nickname as a kid because it was always very joyful and giggly."

Kerr elaborated on why the end of her marriage felt so emotionally fraught. "Going through… the thought of being with someone and then having your life together and then that not being the case is something, you know, it was very challenging for me, but I knew that it was the right decision and we remained super friendly and close throughout it all and have put the needs of Flynn first before our own needs," she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly. "And I feel like we've done really well at that."

The Kora Organics founder also expressed hope that her and Bloom's approach to co-parenting could serve as a positive example for other families navigating similar transitions. "We can hopefully encourage other people to do the same and to put the children first and not your own hurt," she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly.

To aid her healing process, Kerr turned to meditation and yoga, focusing on introspection. She described a disconnect between her rational understanding and her emotional experience. "This is a decision that we both mutually agreed was good for us. I understand logistically, but my body isn't catching up to my mind that understands, right?" she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly. "So there was some kind of disconnect that was happening and I and I just felt like I wasn't the best version of myself."

She continued, "I felt like my body had to move through the waves of feelings that would come up out of nowhere and it was processing and it was really just me giving myself the time to process and instead of trying to fix it like automatically, it was time to feel the feelings," as reported by Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly.

Kerr emphasized that forgiveness was a critical component of her journey toward letting go, ultimately bringing her a sense of freedom. "It was time to forgive and release. It was time to be patient with myself and not feel like I had to have it all together and had to have it all perfect because I didn't," she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly.

Another key coping mechanism she highlighted was self-honesty. "Being truthful with yourself and saying, you know what, this is hard and I'm having a hard time and I don't really know the way out, but I'm just going to take it day by day and try," she told Celebrity News: Latest Celeb News & Pictures - Us Weekly.

Since the divorce, both Kerr and Bloom have moved forward with new relationships. Kerr married Evan Spiegel in May 2017, and they share three sons: Hart, 8, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 2. Bloom shares daughter Daisy, 5, with his ex, Katy Perry.
