Our community can expect mosquito control operations across numerous Cape May County municipalities over the next three days, weather permitting. County officials announced the spraying schedule on Monday, August 11, 2026.
Truck-mounted spraying equipment will operate on Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13, between 7pm and midnight. An additional treatment window is scheduled for Friday, August 14, from 2am to 7am.
The treatments will use ultra-low volume aerosols containing various combinations of insecticides. These include Sumithrin/piperonyl butoxide (sold as Anvil 2+2, Anvil 10+10, and Aqua Anvil), Permethrin/piperonyl butoxide (Aqua Reslin, PermaSease, Aqua PermX), Prallethrin/Sumithrin/piperonyl butoxide (Duet, Aqua Duet), Pyrethrins (Merus 3.0), Fenpropathrin/Abamectin/C8910FA (ReMoa Tri), and Etofenprox (Zenivex E20, Aqua Zenivex).
Multiple communities across four townships will see treatment crews. In Dennis Township, operations may cover Belleplain, Eldora, North Dennis, Dennisville, South Dennis, Ocean View, and Clermont. The entire municipality of Woodbine is also included in the schedule.
Middle Township areas potentially receiving treatment include Cape May Court House, Mayville, Burleigh, and Del Haven. Lower Township sections on the list are Villas, Fishing Creek, Town Bank, North Cape May, Erma, and Cold Spring. West Cape May rounds out the affected communities.
County mosquito control staff are available to answer questions at (609) 465-9038 between 7am and 3pm. The operations are part of the county's adult mosquito control program.
Weather conditions will ultimately determine whether spraying proceeds as scheduled. Residents in the affected areas should plan accordingly for the evening and overnight treatment windows.
