Pedestrian Killed on Harding Highway in Mays Landing

Our community is mourning after a pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, on Harding Highway in Mays Landing, near Cantillon Boulevard in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County.

Word of the tragedy reached us quickly thanks to Ron Bailey, a member of the Atlantic City Board of Education who happened to be at the scene as events unfolded. Bailey told 97.3 ESPN that the roadway was shut down and traffic diverted in the aftermath of the collision; the road has since reopened.

Bailey also shared photographs from the scene. In one image, a white sheet covers the deceased victim entirely; we have chosen not to display that photo in order to preserve the person's dignity. The victim has still not been publicly identified.

Under a long-standing practice in Atlantic County, any fatal incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. As of now, that office has not issued any public statement or details about what happened on Harding Highway.

This remains a developing story. We will bring you updates as soon as the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office releases information. In the meantime, our thoughts are with the victim's loved ones and with everyone affected by this loss on our local roads.
