Presley Gerber did not appear to be sober when he arrived at the Santa Monica rehabilitation facility where he was later found unresponsive and pronounced dead, according to reporting by TMZ.
The 27-year-old model checked into the luxury treatment home on Saturday night, seeking help for substance abuse issues, sources who had contact with him in his final hours told TMZ. Those sources described him as appearing under the influence of a substance at the time of his arrival.
The Santa Monica Police Department responded to a suspected overdose call at the facility at approximately 9:35 AM on Sunday morning, according to a department spokesperson. Officers arrived to find an individual who was unresponsive, the spokesperson said, and they carried out life-saving measures. Presley Gerber was pronounced dead about 10 minutes later.
Authorities are treating the death as a suspected drug overdose. Investigators have not identified any indication of foul play, and a formal cause of death has not yet been made public.
Presley Gerber was the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, and the brother of actress and model Kaia Gerber. The family has requested privacy while they mourn, asking that they be allowed to grieve out of the public eye.
