Rachel Danis, the wife of Patrick Clancy, is speaking publicly about the scrutiny surrounding their relationship, dismissing the conspiracy theories that have circulated online as her husband prepares for a high-profile television interview.
In a preview that aired Friday on "CBS Mornings," teasing Patrick's "60 Minutes" interview scheduled for Sunday, Danis addressed the speculation directly, telling the network, "I don't understand how the story has been so twisted."
She continued, "I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner. And I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
The interview previews arrive amid a backdrop of online conspiracy theories connected to the murder case of Lindsay Clancy, Patrick's ex-wife. Some internet users have alleged that Patrick framed Lindsay for the murders of their children, claims that Danis's remarks appear intended to counter.
In a separate teaser posted Thursday, Patrick disclosed that he continues to communicate with his late children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, stating that he asks them for "help" and that he still talks to them "all the time."
Patrick, who testified in Lindsay's defense during her trial, has been observed at home with Rachel during the proceedings, appearing stressed. The couple has also been seen shopping in the Hamptons and were spotted with big smiles in New York City during deliberations in Lindsay's trial.
