Rapper Blueface was temporarily detained by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies Sunday night in what authorities have identified as an apparent swatting incident at a Santa Clarita restaurant.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to TMZ that deputies responded to a call reporting severe violence at the establishment Sunday evening. Upon arrival, officers detained multiple individuals, including the rapper and his baby mama, Nevaeh Akira. All detainees were subsequently released after investigators determined the emergency call was fabricated and no criminal activity had taken place.
Social media footage captured the tense moments as deputies ordered Blueface to exit the restaurant, where numerous patrol vehicles and officers had assembled. Video shows one deputy inquiring whether Blueface was accompanied by his baby mama, prompting a concerned response from Nevaeh, who appeared to be holding a child at the time.
The rapper attempted to defuse the situation by instructing Nevaeh to take his phone and return inside the restaurant. He then complied with law enforcement commands, walking backward toward deputies with his hands raised before being handcuffed while kneeling. Despite being restrained, Blueface was not arrested and was released after the investigation concluded.
A witness livestreamed the entire encounter, documenting both Blueface and Nevaeh Akira during the incident.
The Santa Clarita incident marks the third police encounter for Blueface this month. Earlier in August, law enforcement responded to his Santa Clarita residence following an incident captured on video showing him kicking pregnant Nevaeh into a pool. Additionally, the rapper was stopped by police in San Diego for equipment violations. Neither of those encounters resulted in an arrest.
Swatting involves making false emergency reports to prompt a significant law enforcement response, typically involving SWAT teams or heavily armed officers. The practice has become increasingly common and carries serious legal consequences, as it diverts critical public safety resources and creates dangerous situations.
Representatives for Blueface have not responded to requests for comment regarding Sunday's incident.
