Reality Star Addresses Backlash Over Family Farm Decision

A former reality television personality has opened up about receiving hostile messages following her family's choice to decline an opportunity to buy a well-known farm property in Oregon.

Audrey Roloff, 35, took to social media on Wednesday, August 5, to discuss the negative response she encountered after revealing that she and husband Jeremy Roloff, 36, opted not to purchase Roloff Farms when the chance arose earlier this year.

"Received some absolutely cruel messages from people who have two percent context for a hard decision we had to make as a family," Audrey wrote in an Instagram post, according to Us Weekly.

The couple, who appeared on the reality series Little People, Big World, faced a difficult choice regarding the 109-acre property that has been central to the show's narrative for years. Audrey acknowledged the emotional weight of their decision in her social media update.

"While we felt confident in our decision, it was already a really hard one to make," she stated, according to Us Weekly. "I chose to share about it because I know so many families based on priorities and unforeseen life circumstances, but I'm still human and those messages still hurt despite the ignorance."

The announcement triggered a public response from Isabel Roloff, 30, who lives on the farm property with her husband Jacob Roloff, 29. Isabel expressed frustration with how Audrey characterized the situation, particularly regarding suggestions that Jeremy and Audrey might "save" the farm.

"Honestly? It feels incredibly disappointing," Isabel wrote via TikTok on Wednesday, according to Us Weekly. "They have never talked to us about it. We don't have the money to 'save' it but we are here, every day, showing up, working it. We tend to the plants and animals and the land of this place. At the end of the day? You just need money."

Isabel further noted that she and Jacob were never approached about potentially collaborating on a purchase. "I just get a bad taste in my mouth that they talk about it like they would be the ones to come in and save the day when we're here, wishing we could find a way to make it work," she wrote, according to Us Weekly. "They never asked if we wanted to work together."

Audrey has not publicly responded to Isabel's comments.

The Oregon farm's history traces back to Matt Roloff, 64, who originally purchased the property with then-wife Amy Roloff. Following their 2016 divorce, Amy sold her shares to Matt. The patriarch first listed 16 acres of the property for sale in 2022, stating that his eldest sons—twins Jeremy and Zach Roloff—were not interested in jointly assuming control of the operations.

Jacob and Isabel currently rent a house on the farm, where they assist with caring for the animals and vegetation.

In March, Audrey had written on Instagram that Matt informed the family he planned to list Roloff Farms for sale again, according to Us Weekly. She noted the property had been on and off the market over the previous six years since the couple attempted to purchase it in 2020.

"Obviously, a lot of healing and moving on has happened since then," Audrey wrote in March, according to Us Weekly. "We have been busy building our own dream on the property we bought a couple years after the farm fell through, but after having [our son] Bode's birthday in the barn last month, we sort of had this 'what if' moment."

Despite that moment of reconsideration, the couple ultimately chose to walk away from negotiations. The decision has exposed ongoing tensions within the Roloff family regarding the future of the property that served as the backdrop for their reality television series.
