Reality Star Jeana Keough Battles Tongue Cancer

Jeana Keough, known for her role on The Real Housewives of Orange County, is fighting tongue cancer with the support of her children and a growing network of well-wishers from the entertainment community.

The reality television personality has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue and is currently in her fifth week of an intensive treatment regimen combining chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy. Her children, Shane Keough and Kara Keough, disclosed the diagnosis over the weekend through a joint Instagram post, prompting an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities.

Shane Keough, 39, emphasized his mother's resilience during this difficult period. "She's strong through this. She's got a good support network down there," Shane told Us Weekly. "Colton, our younger brother, is there [in Orange County, California], so she's on the right path. But you know, it's tough for everybody, and we're just trying to make sure she stays on her program so she's strong when this is done."

Both Shane and Kara Keough, 37, currently reside in Florida, while their younger brother Colton remains in Orange County to provide direct support to their mother. Despite the geographic distance, the siblings are maintaining an optimistic outlook about their mother's prognosis.

"We don't know. We won't know anything," Kara told Us Weekly regarding the long-term prognosis. "I think she'll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life. We're choosing to stay in that mindset."

The family has established a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical expenses, daily living costs, nutritional needs and additional support services during Jeana's treatment. Within the first 24 hours of the announcement, numerous celebrities contributed to the fund, including Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Carmella Garcia, Andy Cohen and Bode Miller.

The response from supporters moved Jeana deeply. On Sunday, July 19, Kara shared an update through her Instagram Story describing her mother's emotional reaction to the generosity. "She cried when I showed her how many of you have donated, sent prayers and offered advice and help. We're reading all your encouraging words and my sweet mama is blown away by the kindness and generosity of so many of you," Kara wrote. "As her kid — knowing the scale and depth of her current struggles — I will sleep so much better tonight because of all of you. ... Truly. You've helped her in more ways than I can tell you."

Kara's recent visit from Florida to Orange County provided her with a clearer understanding of the challenges her mother faces. The trip reinforced the need for sustained support throughout the treatment process and beyond.

"I realize even more how much support she needs — not just while I'm here, but after I return home," Kara wrote on the GoFundMe page. "My brothers and I want to help make sure Mom feels cared for, loved and supported throughout this fight. ... Your kindness, encouragement, and support mean more to our family than we can express."

Despite the severity of her diagnosis, Jeana maintains a determined attitude. "She refuses to acknowledge that she's sick, and I think that the cancer will believe her and follow suit," Kara told Us Weekly.

The Keough family's decision to share the diagnosis publicly reflects both the reality of the situation and their commitment to transparency with the community that has supported Jeana throughout her career. As treatment continues, the family remains focused on ensuring she has the resources and emotional support necessary for recovery.
