Dr. Reza Nabavi, the physician who owns the Resolutions Living sober house, avoided questions in Malibu late Wednesday afternoon regarding the admission of Presley Gerber, who arrived at the facility under the influence of drugs and died hours later, according to TMZ.
Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, was brought to the sober house by his sober coach after the coach contacted Resolutions to ask if Gerber could stay there, making it clear that he was high, TMZ reported. The admissions director allegedly instructed the coach to bring Gerber in, despite industry norms that prohibit admitting anyone under the influence into a sober house.
After dropping Gerber off, the sober coach departed. Video obtained by TMZ shows Gerber inside the facility and visibly high. Sources told TMZ that he was doing drugs and apparently overdosed hours later.
When approached by TMZ's photographer on Wednesday, Dr. Nabavi raised his hand and appeared indignant at the questions about Gerber and the facility's admissions policies.
Sources also told TMZ that the admissions director has been fired, and that Dr. Nabavi has privately stated the facility was not responsible, instead placing blame on the sober coach.
The incident raises significant questions about oversight and admission protocols at sober living facilities, particularly regarding the acceptance of individuals who are actively intoxicated. Industry experts emphasize that admitting someone who is high poses severe risks and violates standard practices.
