Rhea Seehorn Takes Home Emmy for Drama Lead

Rhea Seehorn claimed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series trophy at the 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14, delivering an emotional acceptance speech at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The 54-year-old actress received the honor for portraying Carol Sturka in the Apple TV science fiction series Pluribus. This marked her first nomination in the lead actress category, though she had previously earned three Emmy nominations for her work as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul.

Visibly moved as she took the stage, Seehorn praised her fellow nominees for what she described as "brilliant" performances. She expressed gratitude to the Television Academy and voters before acknowledging the collaborative team behind her success.

"Thank you, Vince Gilligan, for giving me not only the role of a lifetime, but for creating sets where we all get to collaborate, and we are actually made to feel safe to take risks so that we get better as artists," she said.

Seehorn also thanked her production crew, producers, writers, background artists, family members, and friends during her remarks.

The category featured a competitive field of nominees. Carrie Coon, 45, received her second nomination in this category for playing Bertha Russell in The Gilded Age, having previously been recognized in 2024. Coon has accumulated four Emmy nominations since 2017.

Keri Russell, 50, earned her third consecutive nomination in the category for her portrayal of Kate Wyler in the Netflix political drama The Diplomat. Russell received previous nominations in 2023 and 2025 for the same role. Over her career, she has garnered eight Emmy nominations and won a Golden Globe for Felicity.

Zendaya, 30, competed for the award with her performance as Rue in Euphoria. The actress has won this category twice before, claiming the honor in both 2020 and 2022. She has received six Emmy nominations throughout her career and has collected 35 awards total, including a 2023 Golden Globe recognizing her television work in Euphoria.

Chase Infiniti, 26, received her first Emmy nomination for The Testaments, a Hulu drama adapted from Margaret Atwood's sequel to "The Handmaid's Tale."

Last year's ceremony saw Britt Lower, 41, win the category for her dual role as Helly Riggs and Helena in the science fiction thriller Severance. During her acceptance speech, Lower stated, "First, it's a privilege to even be mentioned alongside such an incredible group of artists. I share this award with my heroic cast and crew, whose work catalyzes mine." That victory represented her first Emmy nomination.
