Shudder Unveils Horror-Packed September 2026 Lineup

As autumn approaches and audiences gravitate toward darker entertainment, Shudder is positioning itself to meet the seasonal demand with a substantial slate of horror offerings throughout September 2026.

The streaming platform will debut multiple original productions alongside classic horror films, creating a diverse catalog designed to appeal to fans of both contemporary and vintage fright fare.

Original Productions Lead the Charge

The month's first major release arrives Wednesday, September 4, with Parasomnia, an original film exploring supernatural terror. The story follows Riley, a young woman plagued by night terrors and unresolved trauma. When her best friend becomes the latest person to vanish, Riley suspects a demonic entity from her nightmares has manifested in reality.

Two weeks later, on Wednesday, September 18, Shudder will premiere Goody Goody, featuring Samantha Robinson from The Love Witch and Colby Hollman from Fear the Walking Dead. The film centers on expectant parents and their midwife who discover something has gone terribly wrong during a prolonged home birth. Trapped inside by a blizzard, the family confronts increasingly disturbing complications.

The Creep Tapes returns for its third season on Sunday, September 15, with a two-episode premiere. Created by writers and executive producers Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, the series continues its anthology format of videotapes featuring the world's most socially uncomfortable serial killer, portrayed by Duplass. This season's guest stars include Kate Siegel, Nic Hamilton, Elliott Fullam, and Ora Duplass, Mark Duplass' daughter, who appears in a throwback episode. The show's format reveals the killer's disturbing intentions as his increasingly bizarre behavior unfolds on camera.

Library Expansions Throughout the Month

Sunday, September 1, marks the addition of four films to the platform's library. The Horseman from 2008 follows a suburban father who embarks on a violent rampage after learning his runaway teenage daughter Jesse was sexually attacked. Also arriving that day are Irrefutable Truth About Demons, chronicling an anthropologist whose reality shatters when targeted by a satanic cult; Exorcismo, about a young woman possessed by her late father's spirit after unknowingly participating in a satanic ceremony; and The Silent Scream, a murder mystery set at a seaside mansion where a college student becomes entangled in deadly secrets.

Sunday, September 7, brings two supernatural titles: The Serpent's Skin, exploring a romance between a transgender woman and a goth tattoo artist whose shared supernatural abilities accidentally summon a demon, and Its Name Was Mormo, documenting a family's torment by a demon rooted in Greek mythology through police evidence footage.

Thursday, September 11, sees the premiere of Descendent, following a troubled Los Angeles school guard haunted by family tragedy who experiences strange visions after a mysterious light appears in the sky.

Sunday, September 14, delivers four new additions. Before the Fall arrives in 4K restoration, depicting the final 72 hours before a catastrophic meteorite collision forces an aimless drifter to confront an immediate threat. Dead By Dawn from 2025 transforms a theater rehearsal into an occult ritual when a masked killer appears. Dinner to Die For follows culinary photographer Hanna and her friend Evan as their true crime role-playing takes a dark turn. The House Was Not Hungry Then centers on a young woman who breaks into a countryside house where visitors mysteriously disappear.

Andy Milligan Retrospective

Saturday, September 21, features a collection honoring filmmaker Andy Milligan, who created low-budget shock films during the 1960s and 1970s before dying of AIDS. The Degenerate: The Life and Films of Andy Milligan serves as a documentary examining the New York City filmmaker's complex life and fierce directing style.

Accompanying the documentary are three Milligan-directed features: Blood Thirsty Butchers, about a murderous barber and baker who create human pies; The Man with Two Heads, wherein serum from a mass murderer's brain transforms Dr. Jekyll into Mr. Blood; and The Rats Are Coming! The Werewolves Are Here!, following a daughter's attempt to end her family's werewolf curse.

Also arriving September 21 are Hallucination Generation, tracking a San Francisco juvenile who joins an LSD guru's cult in Spain and becomes involved in murder, and The Corpse Collector, featuring a blind sculptor whose wife uses murder victims' skeletons for his artwork.

The month concludes Tuesday, September 23, with two final additions: Above the Knee, about a man tormented by visions of his rotting leg who devises a plan for dark redemption, and Timecrimes, a Spanish thriller wherein a man accidentally travels back nearly an hour in a time machine, triggering catastrophic consequences.
