Slash Seeks Court Relief Over $1.5M Support Overpayment

Guns N' Roses guitarist Saul Hudson, known professionally as Slash, has turned to Los Angeles County court seeking relief from what he describes as a significant accounting error in his divorce settlement payments.

According to court filings submitted recently, the rock musician claims his longtime business manager mistakenly overpaid his ex-wife Perla Ferrar by $1.5 million in spousal support across a three-year period. The guitarist is not demanding repayment but rather requesting judicial authorization to apply the excess amount as a credit toward his future support obligations.

The alleged overpayment stems from a miscalculation involving the variable portion of the support arrangement. Under the terms of their 2018 divorce settlement, Slash agreed to provide Ferrar with a base payment of $100,000 monthly, supplemented by additional quarterly amounts tied to his income when it exceeds certain threshold levels.

The court documents indicate that the business manager failed to properly adjust these supplemental payments after the maximum amount Ferrar could receive was reduced in subsequent years. This oversight allegedly resulted in $3.42 million in additional support being paid annually during 2021, 2022, and 2023, when those amounts should have been subject to lower caps established for those years.

The cumulative effect of these calculation errors, according to the filing, produced the $1.5 million overpayment across the three-year span.

Slash attempted to resolve the matter outside of court proceedings in March by unilaterally applying the alleged overpayment as a credit against future support obligations. However, Ferrar declined to accept this arrangement, prompting the guitarist to continue making full payments while pursuing judicial intervention.

Email correspondence included in the court filing reveals that Ferrar's legal and financial representatives requested additional financial documentation before agreeing to any credit arrangement. The business manager maintains that the requested records were subsequently provided, but asserts that Ferrar's team has not yet consented to the proposed deductions.

The 2018 divorce settlement between the musician and Ferrar included a $6.6 million payment in addition to the ongoing monthly spousal support structure. That agreement established the $100,000 base monthly payment that continues to the present.

The guitarist's legal filing makes clear that he is not seeking a $1.5 million refund from his ex-wife. Instead, the request asks the court to authorize applying the overpaid amount as a credit that would reduce his upcoming support payments until the excess is accounted for.

The case highlights the complexities that can arise in high-value divorce settlements, particularly when support arrangements include variable components tied to fluctuating income levels. The matter now awaits judicial review in Los Angeles County court.
