EGG HARBOR CITY — Golfers will hit the course at Renault Winery and Resort later this month to raise money for Stockton University students.
The Stockton University Foundation's annual Golf Classic will be held Sept. 17, with proceeds supporting student scholarships and other university initiatives.
The tournament will feature two flights. The Early Bird Flight begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start following breakfast, while the Afternoon Aces Flight tees off at 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by a cocktail reception.
Registration remains open through Sept. 16.
Individual golfers can participate for $250, while foursomes are $1,000. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $500.
The tournament will include men's and women's closest-to-the-pin and longest-drive competitions, along with tournament prizes, Putt for Prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Money raised through the event supports the Stockton Fund, which provides scholarships and helps students participate in educational opportunities both on and off campus.
Louden Jobes, a criminal justice major expected to graduate in 2027, said scholarship assistance has allowed him to become more involved in campus life.
"I am a member of the Track team, two executive boards for clubs on campus and a member of the Residential Life team," Jobes said. "Support from this event helps me pay for school while being able to enjoy the extracurricular activities."
The Stockton Foundation says it provides more than $1 million annually for scholarships, university programs, academics and other resources intended to help students succeed.
The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters and Local 255 is a longtime supporter of the tournament.
Aaron Buchanan, a 2007 Stockton graduate, said supporting the event has personal significance.
"As a Stockton alumnus, I am proud to be part of an event that helps provide opportunities for future generations," Buchanan said. "It's always rewarding to see the community come together to support Stockton students."
The tournament is supported by numerous South Jersey businesses, labor organizations and institutions, including AtlantiCare, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Registration and additional information are available through Stockton University's Golf Classic page. The deadline to register is Sept. 16.
