Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Arizona, following his arrest earlier this year, according to TMZ.com.
Prosecutors in Scottsdale filed the criminal complaint on Monday, September 28, 2026, court records show. The charge traces back to Brooks' arrest in March 2026, when Scottsdale police officers pulled him over and, after an investigation, took him into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Following the arrest, Brooks was transported to the Scottsdale City jail, where he was processed and photographed for a mug shot before being released from custody at approximately 3:30 AM, according to TMZ.com.
The March incident was not Brooks' first encounter with Scottsdale authorities. As TMZ.com previously reported, he was also stopped by police in January 2026 for allegedly driving 85 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.
The Phoenix Suns organization acknowledged the charge in a statement provided to TMZ.com. Stacey Mitch, the team's Senior Vice President of Communications, told the outlet, "This charge stems from the incident last March. We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment."
Brooks, who plays small forward for the Suns, has been sidelined in recent months by injuries, including a broken hand. He joined Phoenix in 2025 after stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets. His NBA career began in 2017, and he has reportedly earned upwards of $105 million in salary during that span.
The 30-year-old has also cultivated a reputation as one of the league's more polarizing figures, largely due to his well-documented feud with LeBron James.
The misdemeanor filing adds to a growing list of legal and disciplinary questions surrounding the veteran forward as the Suns prepare for the upcoming season. Team officials have not indicated whether the charge will affect his availability.
