Tan Mom Says Dark Tan Nearly Led to ICE Detention

Patricia "Tan Mom" Krentcil is alleging that federal immigration agents confronted her outside a restaurant and came close to taking her into custody, and she contends her well-known dark tan is the reason she drew their attention.

Krentcil recounted the episode during a recent installment of her podcast, which she hosts alongside friend and co-host Adam Barta. According to her account, she was leaving the restaurant with her girlfriend when ICE agents approached and asked whether she was a citizen of the United States.

She maintains that she informed the agents she is a U.S. citizen. Even so, she claims the confrontation escalated to the brink of her being handcuffed and removed from the scene, and she asserts that her dark complexion drove the encounter. Krentcil stated that she did not know where the agents would have taken her had the situation progressed, and she described the experience as terrifying.

Despite her fear, Krentcil said she held her ground and eventually emerged from the situation without being detained.

The reality television personality did not soften her assessment of the encounter. She characterized ICE as racist and criticized President Donald Trump, stating that he supports "all of this nonsense."

Krentcil said the episode left her shaken, and she is speaking publicly about what she regards as unfair treatment connected to the color of her skin. The account, as reported by TMZ.com on October 21, 2026, rests on her own description of the events; the agents involved have not been identified, and no independent confirmation of the encounter has been presented.

The allegation arrives amid heightened public scrutiny of immigration enforcement tactics and their impact on citizens and communities. For local readers, the story raises questions about how citizenship status is assessed during street-level encounters and what recourse individuals have when they believe they have been singled out based on appearance.
