Wildwood Traffic Stop Leads to Two Loaded Guns, Machine-Gun Conversion Device

WILDWOOD — A traffic stop involving a Pennsylvania license plate allegedly covered with black tape led Wildwood police to two loaded handguns, including a Glock equipped with a device capable of converting the weapon to automatic fire, authorities said.

Three people — including a 17-year-old — were arrested following the Saturday traffic stop on Rio Grande Avenue, according to Wildwood police.

Police identified the two adults as Donald R. Jones, 18, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and Maurice L. Bullock Jr., 21, of Exton, Pennsylvania. The third person was identified only as a 17-year-old juvenile from Pennsylvania.

Police said officers stopped a maroon Chrysler after observing several motor vehicle violations.

Officers also noticed that the vehicle's Pennsylvania license plate had been covered with black tape, according to police.

Jones was identified as the driver, while Bullock and the juvenile were passengers.

During the stop, officers saw a handgun inside a crossbody bag that Bullock had removed from the vehicle, police said.

The weapon was identified as a loaded .45-caliber Glock 21 equipped with a device commonly known as a "switch," according to police.

Such devices can convert a semiautomatic handgun to fire automatically.

Police said officers also recovered a 30-round magazine and hollow-point ammunition.

Second Loaded Gun Found

The discovery prompted officers to search the Chrysler, where police said they found another loaded handgun inside a separate bag in the front passenger area.

The second weapon was identified as a Taurus 9mm handgun equipped with a large-capacity magazine, police said. Additional ammunition was also recovered.

Investigators subsequently determined that the Taurus had previously been reported stolen, according to police.

All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and face multiple weapons charges.

The 17-year-old was additionally charged with possessing a firearm as a minor.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed where the Taurus was allegedly stolen or how the weapon came to be inside the vehicle.

The arrests stem from allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
