Trump Plaza Site Sold, Atlantic City Mayor Says

There's a new owner for the former Trump Plaza casino site on the Atlantic City Boardwalk — but the city isn't saying who just yet.

Mayor Marty Small Sr. said Monday that someone has purchased the property, though he declined to identify the buyer. He made the announcement while appearing on the nationally syndicated radio show "The Breakfast Club."

"One of the most powerful people in the state of New Jersey has purchased the Trump Plaza property, them and their people," Small said on the program. "I can't name them; I'll let them make the announcement."

Later in the day, Small again declined to name the purchaser during an interview, but he confirmed the transaction had closed recently. "It's a done deal," he said. "I wasn't at the table when they did it, but they tell me it's a done deal."

The former casino site has sat vacant on the Boardwalk since the Trump Plaza was demolished in 2021, and its future has been one of the most closely watched questions in the city. For residents and businesses along the Boardwalk, a new owner — and whatever comes next — could reshape a prominent stretch of the shoreline.

For now, the identity of the buyer and any plans for the property remain under wraps. Small indicated the purchaser will make the announcement on their own timetable, leaving the community to wait — and wonder — about what's in store for one of the city's most visible pieces of real estate.
