Wild N' Out Ditches Studio for Live Tour Format

Nick Cannon's long-running comedy competition series Wild N' Out is undergoing a major transformation, trading its studio audience for arena crowds across America.

Executive producer Rip Michaels confirmed to TMZ.com that the show is eliminating its traditional production model, which previously filmed at a central location with an in-studio audience. The upcoming season will instead capture performances from a live tour spanning multiple cities, similar to the approach used by the music battle series Verzuz.

The new touring format represents a fundamental shift in how the program operates. Rather than bringing contestants and celebrity guests to a single filming location, production will travel to major metropolitan areas including Miami, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Memphis, and New York. Each city will host both a live performance and a taping session, with the collected footage edited into episodes for broadcast.

This approach mirrors a live performance the show held in Brooklyn during June 2026, which featured appearances by New York Knicks players. That event served as a template for the touring model producers plan to implement going forward.

The format change opens participation opportunities for comedy fans nationwide. Production will conduct casting calls in each tour city, with selected winners earning spots in the live shows. Local celebrities may also join the performances, adding regional flavor to each taping.

Distribution plans for the new season remain undetermined. Producers have not announced whether episodes will air on traditional cable television or debut through streaming platforms. Current and past seasons of Wild N' Out are available for viewing on Paramount+ and Pluto.

The touring strategy allows the show to expand its geographic reach while maintaining the improvisational comedy battles and celebrity guest appearances that have defined the series since its debut. By bringing production directly to audiences rather than requiring travel to a studio, the format democratizes access to participation in one of cable's most popular comedy programs.
