Wildwoods Airshow Returns in September with F-22 Raptor, F-16 Flyover and New Performers

WILDWOOD — One of the Jersey Shore's biggest fall events is set to soar over the beaches once again as the Wildwoods Airshow returns Sept. 12-13 with an expanded lineup of military aircraft, aerobatic performers and skydiving demonstrations.

The free airshow, presented by the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, will be visible from beaches and boardwalks throughout the Wildwoods, giving spectators a front-row seat to two days of high-speed aerial performances.

Headlining this year's show is the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, which will showcase the capabilities of one of the world's most advanced fighter aircraft. The F-22 is capable of flying at speeds exceeding Mach 2 and is known for dramatic high-angle maneuvers, rapid climbs and unmatched agility.

Also returning to the skies will be the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, based at Atlantic City International Airport. The local unit will perform an F-16 flyover as a tribute to New Jersey's military heritage.

Other featured performers announced so far include:

• Randy Ball's MiG-17, a restored Cold War-era fighter jet that once served in the Vietnam War.

• The Jersey Jerks, flying vintage North American SNJ/T-6 Texan training aircraft in precision formation.

• Aerobatic pilots Patrick McAlee, David Windmiller and RJ Gritter, each performing high-energy routines featuring loops, rolls, spins and vertical climbs.

• The RE/MAX Skydiving Team, which will open the weekend by parachuting into the event during the National Anthem.

• A P-51 Mustang, one of the most recognizable World War II fighter aircraft, known for its distinctive sound and legendary combat history.

Organizers say additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

While the airshow is free to attend from anywhere along the beaches and boardwalk, visitors looking for an upgraded experience can purchase reserved premium beach seating in designated viewing areas.

The Wildwoods Airshow has become one of the region's signature tourism events, drawing thousands of spectators each year while showcasing military aviation, historic aircraft and some of the nation's top civilian aerobatic performers.
