ATLANTIC CITY - A workplace accident in Atlantic City on Thursday morning left a man seriously injured and hospitalized, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.
Officers responded at 8:23 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to the area of Annapolis & Ventnor Avenue, where they found an unconscious man lying on the ground. The officers who located him were Thomas Gilardi and Jorge Cruz.
A preliminary investigation determined that the man had been working on a building when his ladder came into direct contact with electrical wires, electrocuting him.
Officer Gilardi initially detected a pulse in the victim, but a short time later could no longer find one. He immediately began life-saving CPR and continued until paramedics arrived to take over the man's medical care.
The victim was then airlifted to Temple University for further treatment. The Atlantic City Police Department said it is not releasing the man's current condition at this time.
Atlantic City Chief of Police Jim Sarkos leads the department handling the case. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have described it as a developing story.
